For 53 years, the staff at Sunset Nursery have prided themselves on providing quality service and selection as the Valley's most complete one-stop gardening centre.
Catering to all your gardening needs, Sunset Nursery is family owned and independently operated, and is well-known and respected by many out-of-town customers who rely on friendly staff for their knowledge and expertise in all areas of gardening.
Owner and general manager Ross Hugli says the challenge is always being prepared for the changing seasons, anticipating consumer demands and having a good assortment and selection of in-stock items - whether they be for the garden, patio or deck.
Always striving to find new and improved plant selections, Sunset Nursery will introduce at least 40 new varieties of annuals, perennials, flowering shrubs, and trees this spring. Newer varieties are usually improved meaning bigger and longer blooms, stronger blooms, sturdier plants, better fragrance, better quality and greater yield of fruit and vegetables.
Sunset Nursery carefully assesses all new varieties, and determines which ones its customers will appreciate most. We then carefully select and sell only the type of outdoor plants that are hardy enough for the local climate. Our staff are also encouraged to plant and test out some of the new varieties in their own gardens as a way of learning about them, so that when customers come in with questions or problems, they'll already be one step ahead and know what needs to be done.
This spring, Sunset Nursery will have approximately 15 staff, most of whom have returned for several years, bringing with them a combined total of more than 125 years of gardening experience.
In addition to plants, Sunset Nursery carries a complete line of garden accessories designed to make gardening easier. We carry a large selection of ornamental statues, fountains and garden benches, and will introduce a new line of quality deck and patio furniture this spring. In terms of mulches, Sunset Nursery has a large selection including pine, cedar, cypress, cocoa, and a number of decorative stone mulches.
When it comes to specialty departments, water gardening comes to mind with a full product line of nozzles, pumps, fountain heads, and all plants needed, in addition to the experience and know how to get you started. Another specialty area is Sunset Nursery's own line of free information brochures which aim to give customers advice on a wide range of topics.
Information can also be found weekly in Jay's column "Time Out For Gardening" featured in the Daily Observer.
A good corporate citizen, Sunset Nursery is open year round with seasonally varying hours. And environmentally conscious, all recommended solutions we provide to problems are environmentally friendly.
